A Safe Haven (previously CCIL)
Located in Chicago’s Lawndale neighborhood, the mixed-use program included housing for families and single men and women, as well as social services, training classrooms, administration, and support.
Originally built for the Chicago Christian Industrial League, the property was purchased in 2017 by A Safe Haven and serves as a home and educational center for veterans.
The mixed-use building included 340 beds of housing for families and single men and women seeking shelter in the League’s transitional programs. The building holds a full service, 140-seat kitchen, and cafeteria that doubles as a teaching kitchen, seven classrooms, a 100+ seat community room, group therapy rooms, administrative offices, and work areas to support the 75 person staff.
The campus is a welcoming and modern organization dedicated to improving the lives of its clients. It was specifically designed to support and enhance educational programs.
