Thonet Industries is a prominent, Pennsylvania-based furniture manufacturer. The company's wish to create an innovative environment in which to display their furniture elicited a study of light, color, and texture in a space through the use of projections and layered transparencies.
The showroom is punctuated with perforated metal screens of different densities, acrylic lens panels, and linear arrangements of floor-to-ceiling fluorescent lights of different colors. Thonet's classic Bentwood Chair changes color as it passes through the light and space, becoming a focus so that viewers might extend their thoughts and imagine themselves projected through this delineated sequence.
