Hewitt Associates, an international employee benefits consulting firm, is situated on a 15-acre landscaped estate overlooking Long Island Sound. Known as "Rockledge", it features a landmark early twentieth century manor which was previously restored and adapted for office, dining and conference use. Hewitt required a significant expansion of the original house to meet the needs of its East Coast operations, while maintaining the integrity of the estate.
The design of the building addition, interiors and furniture systems is an efficient layout of private offices and shared work spaces for 150 employees. The plan is a compact arrangement of private spaces organized by open spaces and corridors lined with secretaries. These elements provide for the diversity of needs within each operational group.
