Herman Miller National Design Center
Atlanta, GA | 2006
Part of our sequel of projects for Herman Miller Inc., the National Design Center in Atlanta is located on a historic site with north-facing clerestories, full-height windows, and exposed brick and beams. Identifiable by its soaring wooden ceilings and abundant natural light, this 16,000sf project occupies a previous soap factory and is designed to take maximum advantage of the benefits and character of this historical space. The new program was therefore designed as floating pavilions, minimally detailed and detached from this unique setting.
Herman Miller was cited in 2006 by Fortune Magazine as the "Most Admired" company in its industry, and is among Business Ethics magazine's "100 Best Corporate Citizens." Herman Miller seeks a minimum of a LEED Silver certification for its showrooms, and this project received LEED CI Gold.
